Position Summary:
The Accounting Specialist 1 assists in various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations at Shultz Steel.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities are fundamental to this role, with additional tasks assigned as needed. Employees must adhere to safe work practices, ensuring compliance with all Company policies, procedures, safety rules, and regulations. All job functions should be executed with integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct, aligning with established Company guidelines.
- Assist with Accounts Payable activities including but not limited to vouchering and filing.
- Maintain productive and efficient channels of communication with vendors and Shultz business operations.
- Produce weekly financial reports for the Accounting and business team(s); ie: Manufacturing variances, vouchers payable and invoice tracking, accounts receivable aging analysis, ops daily spend report.
- Review and validate standard costs in Syteline prior to production release.
- Responsible for job closures in Syteline and tracking job order travelers.
- Maintain and manage accurate document control of Shultz documents at Shultz and Iron Mountain.
- Perform quarterly review of open purchase orders with Purchasing Team(s) to maintain purchase order system.
- Support inventory counts at Shultz as needed.
- Perform general administrative tasks as needed.
Required Skills:
- Effectively responds to customer inquiries, resolves regulatory concerns, and communicates with business representatives.
- Identifies key issues, gathers relevant data, and applies logical reasoning to develop solutions.
- Able to interpret and apply complex instructions in mathematical, graphical, and written formats.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experienced in using office machinery such as calculators, copiers, fax machines, and postage meters.
Experience & Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
