Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:With minimum supervision, responsible for any combination of engineering technical duties which require a highdegree of accuracy in one or more of the following functions: Materials & Processes, Dynamics, Electronic,Mechanical, Calibration and Customer Support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

MATERIALS & PROCESSES

Review incoming lab requests, determine test requirements and assign appropriate charge number. Independentlyset‐up and operate all lab equipment including: precision gauging equipment, microhardness, rockwell hardness,tensile testing, emission spectroscopy, and laboratory heat treating. Utilize precision gauging equipment,micrometers, dial indicators, surface plate, and microscopes. Perform post test analysis and prepare testreports based on specification requirements. Demonstrate a working knowledge of materials & processesspecifications.

DYNAMICSDevise, improvise, set‐up and trouble shoot digital sine/random, shock test equipment including: accelerometerhook ups, centrifuge, oscilloscopes, hookups, oscillographs and x‐y plotters. Perform post test disassembly andassist in analysis. Interpret comprehensive data and prepare accurate activity reports on which decisions will bebased. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Mil‐Std‐810 with respect to dynamic testing. Demonstrate athorough knowledge of electronics, and environmental testing of fuel, hydraulic, and pneumatic component parts.

ELECTRONICDevise, improvise, and trouble shoot electronic circuits and instrumentation set‐ups including oscilloscopes,oscillographs, x‐y recorders, and other standard lab equipment. Demonstrated ability to proficiently set‐up andoperate data acquisition computers, process control systems, micro processor applications, and automatic testequipment. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of electronic principles.

MECHANICALAssemble component parts based on assembly drawings. Independently fabricate, design, set‐up and troubleshoot experimental or limited run assembly and/or test activities on complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and limitedelectronic set‐ups. Projects are highly technical presenting new processes and changing requirements. Interpretacceptance, qualification and R & D test procedures.Perform engineering, development, and quality tests, data acquisition reduction, post test disassembly and assistin analysis. Demonstrate ability to operate lab equipment including: recording oscillographs, oscilloscopes, flowmeasuring equipment, and computerized test systems where applicable.

CALIBRATIONPerforms calibration on various types of semi‐complex and complex electronic measuring and test equipment(M&TE). Demonstrates ability to proficiently set‐up complex calibration test conditions interpreting calibrationprocedures, engineering specifications, schematics, or related documents. Documents and evaluates historicaldata to determine calibration intervals. Diagnoses, develops calibration procedures, and calibrates newly acquiredM&TE. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of electronic principles and calibration requirements per National andInternational Standards.

CUSTOMER SUPPORTPerforms technical maintenance on a variety of moderately complex to complex hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel orelectronic systems and components. Plans and coordinates investigations into customer reports of technicalproduct or service problems. Reviews performance trends, reports and documentation regarding malfunctioningor damaged products. Recommends and may provide on‐site technical assistance to repair, replace or take othercorrective actions; may perform rework or inspection of Parkers fielded hardware. Maintains and analyzesdetailed performance and maintenance service records. May instruct customers on the operation and proper useand maintenance of equipment and ensures accuracy of work instructions and service handbooks and bulletins.Facilitates coordination with OEM divisions to complete corrective actions.

ALL SPECIALTIES:Demonstrate a thorough understanding of fluid power systems, cryogenic fluids, and environmental testing.Demonstrated ability to proficiently utilize all lab and test equipment.Maintain up‐to‐date qualification data and daily log books on each project.Recommend new techniques, systems, procedures and preventative maintenance to improve overall efficiency.Make recommendations for the purchase and/or use of equipment.Interface with employees from other functional areas i.e. design engineering, process manufacturing, qualitycontrol and vendors.Assist less experienced personnel.Perform other related responsibilities.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Five years related experience, trade or military training, or good understanding and demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings, sketches, schematics and procedures.
  • Basic PC and electronic console skills where applicable.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Personal hand tools may be required.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
