This transformation includes new global governance, new ways of working and the implementation of digital business services and platforms managed by Airbus Functional Design - Scientific computing Department.

We are seeking a proactive and innovative IT Engineer to operate, maintain, and enhance LSF managed compute environments across Linux & Windows platforms. Beyond administration, this role requires someone who can challenge the status quo, think out of the box, and bring fresh ideas for automation, optimization, and innovation in the compute environment.

The position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with interactive services & HPC infrastructure, contribute to automation and development initiatives, and collaborate internationally with Airbus engineering and IT teams.

Qualification & Experience: 

• 3–6 years of working experience in IT working on heterogeneous Linux/Windows/Unix server environments.

• Strong knowledge of scheduling concepts (preferably LSF) and Linux administration.

• Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of scheduler platforms in heterogeneous Linux and Windows environments.

• Experience with workload scheduling concepts, resource management, and job accounting in distributed environments.

• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Good understanding of compute resource management (CPU, memory, GPU, licenses, storage) within enterprise environments.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge existing processes and contribute innovative solutions.

• Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively in global, cross-functional teams.

• Exposure to security integration concepts (OAutstrong, OpenID Connect, SAML) and knowledge of Agile methodologies, Jira, or ServiceNow will be considered a plus.

• Familiarity with the LSF product ecosystem (PAC, PPM, DM, License Scheduler, Explorer) is an advantage.

Responsibilities: 

• Operate, maintain, and optimize compute environments across Linux and Windows platforms, ensuring stability, performance, and high availability.

• Manage LSF configurations, queues, resource plans, and policies to support engineering priorities.

• Develop and maintain automation scripts and backend tools (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to streamline administration, monitoring, and reporting.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to scheduling, job execution, and resource utilization.

• Collaborate with system, storage, and network teams to ensure seamless integration of compute resources (CPU, memory, GPU, licenses, storage).

• Proactively challenge existing workflows and propose innovative improvements to enhance efficiency and user experience.

• Support upgrades, patches, and configuration changes with minimal disruption to services.

• Ensure adherence to security best practices and compliance requirements in compute environments.

• Provide technical support and guidance to users on job submission, scheduling concepts, and best practices.

• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with global Airbus teams to deliver continuous improvements.

Success Metrics:

• Compute environments and scheduling platforms run with high availability and minimal downtime, ensuring uninterrupted support for engineering workloads.

• Improved utilization of compute resources (CPU, memory, GPU, licenses, storage) through effective scheduling policies and proactive tuning.

• Increased automation coverage (scripts, tools, pipelines) leading to measurable reductions in manual effort and faster turnaround times.

• Demonstrated ability to challenge existing processes, propose out-of-the-box solutions, and successfully deliver improvements in workflows, monitoring, or reporting.

• Timely identification and resolution of scheduling and system issues, reducing job failures and performance bottlenecks.

• Effective teamwork with global Airbus engineering and IT teams, coupled with clear documentation, knowledge transfer, and user support.

• Active contribution to upgrades, security best practices, and Agile ways of working, ensuring systems remain secure, modern, and aligned with organizational goals.
