Position Summary:
Without supervision, level one CMM inspectors demonstrate an expert ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T per ASME 14.5 standards, perform complex set-ups and operation of CMM scanners. This includes the ability to produce and interpret CMM readouts in order to communicate with production employees regarding dimensional conformance. While CMM inspectors primarily operate CMMs, they will also demonstrate the ability to perform mechanical inspections as required. Normally CMM inspectors belong to the quality inspector category and are identified as level three and level four quality inspectors. They will perform First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspection tasks. The successful candidate will have experience performing these inspections in a machine-shop manufacturing environment and have proficient knowledge with GD&T.
This position will support 3rd shift operations with a schedule Sunday - Thursday, 8:15pm - 4:45am, with possible overtime available when business needs arise. Training schedule will be 8am – 4:30pm for approximately 3 months or until able to demonstrate the job with little to no intervention. Shift premium will apply when moved to 3rd shift.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilizing internal/external documents, the inspector will validate the product meets dimensional requirements inside and outside of CNC machines.
- Perform first article inspections to certify a process will yield a conforming product.
- Utilize Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for part inspection.
- Validate GD&T requirements with manual inspection techniques.
- Prioritize workflow through Inspection department based on daily shipping list.
- Conduct visual tests and measurements using appropriate equipment and methods.
- Perform inspections by measuring various dimensions (length, height, width) using precision instruments, i.e., calipers, micrometers, dial indicator, and/or CMM, etc.
- Create nonconformance tags and document nonconforming product within the internal MRB software.

- Be a team player and contribute to incident data and problem-solving methods in the MRB process.

Experience & Education:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- 5 years of relevant inspection experience are required.
- Experience performing First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspection is required.
- MUST be able to demonstrate the ability to read blueprints and correctly understand how to measure dimensions and calculate tolerances based on GD&T.
- Experience in manufacturing/machining is required. Automotive, aerospace, or similar industries is preferred.
- CNC machine shop environment (36" diameter or greater) is preferred.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $24.00 to $36.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays.
