We have an, opportunity for a Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to be based in Charlottesville, VA.
The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager will act as a leader in EH&S by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S Program Management.
What you will do:
- Drive the culture of the Environmental, Health, and Safety program at the Mikro Systems Facility.
- Support implementation of the Raytheon Technologies and Pratt & Whitney EH&S Management system
- Organize and maintain assigned EH&S policies and procedures to achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Lead the site EH&S Council
- Oversight for all applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures (Applicable safety programs include LOTO, electrical safety, machine guarding, elevated work, confined space, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, blood borne pathogens, powered industrial vehicles, respirator protection and hearing conservation)
- Manage a robust environmental program which includes wastewater permitting, RCRA waste management, potential site air permit, storm water no exposure certification, x-ray registrations
- Coordinate the Workers’ Compensation process, first aid and injury reporting
- Lead efforts to continuously improve EH&S performance and operations, including improvement programs and corrective actions, environmental protection projects, conservation activities, and integration of EH&S initiatives into overall business operations
- Interface with government agencies to maintain regulatory compliance (audits, annual reports, permit applications, etc.)
- Work with Human Resources to implement EHS training requirements
- Conduct safety inspections and analyzes audit findings to develop corrective actions and achieve and maintain safe work practices.
- Implement changes relative to facility and equipment
- Follow and adhere to organization or government restrictions to ensure compliance with the norms
- Implements new or modified plans in response to delays, bad weather, or site emergencies
- Inspects or reviews projects to evaluate compliance with building and safety codes or other regulations to ensure a safe workplace
- Participate in cross functional teams to ensure building safety and security
- Assist with managing site contractors, inspects work and work areas, coordinates work with affected departments
- Works closely with EH&S to ensure all work and projects are compliant with our policies and procedures for high and low risk work
- Plans, organizes, and schedules activities, which may include maintenance, construction, renovation, space planning, repairs, to ensure proper functioning of facilities
- Assesses work and repairs to determine when activities should be managed internally or externally with contractors
- Work closely with our global security team to ensure physical security controls are functional and site is secure
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelors Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related field and 8 years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety, Risk, or other related field; or an advanced degree with 5 years of experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
- DOT Training
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Certification or experience managing Ergonomic risk reduction
- Experience with ACE, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma or related Continuous Improvement tools
- Expert in risk assessment and reduction

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
