Synopsis:
This position is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of all health, safety, environmental, and compliance activities across all Munawala handled airports in accordance with regulatory, Industry and airline-specific requirements. The role also drives continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) for Munawala operations at the assigned airports, overseeing the management, development, mentoring, and support of operational and occupational safety and compliance programs, in alignment with directives from relevant authorities.
Job responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining a holistic overview of all occupational health and operational safety & compliance related mandates at the assigned airports and leading initiatives to drive the fundamentals of Safety Management Systems (SMS) with airport teams and contracted suppliers. This includes passenger acceptance and baggage handling, aircraft handling, load control, GSE operation and cargo handling and aircraft interface.
- Responsible for supporting all audits (Internal, External, Regulatory, etc.) at assigned airports, providing Subject Matter Expert guidance to the operational management team in audit preparation, and ensuring timely closure of audit findings in accordance with company standards.
- Coordinate and liaise with the centralized EHSQ department in Abu Dhabi to ensure timely reporting and the effective implementation of the Safety Management System and Quality Management System.
- Collect, maintain, analyse, and report safety data and statistics in accordance with the Safety and Quality Management Systems (SMS and QMS) requirements.
- Develop and implement health and safety plans, ensuring effective management of all occupational health and safety activities at assigned airports. Safeguard the well-being of personnel and protection of company assets, while ensuring proper maintenance of all applicable OSH records.
- Lead a team of HSE Officers/Specialists to ensure the effective implementation of a robust occupational and operational Safety Management System (SMS) at assigned airports through on-site support, coaching, training, and station safety reviews. Collaborate with contracted suppliers to foster a strong safety reporting culture.
- Lead the implementation of new policies, procedures, and initiatives related to occupational and operational safety and compliance management, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives.
- Acts as SME for any queries, event follow up and associated activities from operational and management teams.
- Responsible for investigating safety and occupational injury incidents in close coordination with operational management, involved staff, third-party suppliers, and airline representatives, as applicable. Accountable for ensuring the implementation of sustainable corrective and preventive actions within the business.
- Identify and mitigate safety risks related to change management by conducting hazard identification and risk assessments as needed. Perform comprehensive risk management through the evaluation of practices, procedures, and facilities.
- Escalate medium or high-level risks to appropriate management or executive level personnel to ensure effective operations oversight.
- Prepare and Implement a Safety promotion program through inclusion of posters, flyers, bulletins and campaigns to effectively promote HSE and improve safety culture across Munawala airports.

Education & Experience
- Degree level education (ideally, science or safety) is preferred, or 6-8 years’ knowledge of airport operations gained with an airline or airport ground handling agency, with minimum 5 years’ experience in safety management.
- NEBOSH IGC certifications or Safety Diploma is desirable.
- Good experience in leading and conducting safety investigations
- Experience in the principles of hazard identification and risk assessment
- Technical training including Dangerous Goods training is desirable
- A knowledge of airline weight and balance activities is desirable
