Position Summary
Position Summary:
The EHS Intern will report to the Division EHS Manager. This role involves assisting leadership with daily activities regarding safety to ensure that the plants meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. This role communicates daily, weekly, and monthly requirements and expectations within the facilities and will be involved in most operational safety aspects across all shifts. They will provide valuable feedback to Supervisors and Managers regarding the performance of the safety program and the engagement of employees within the facility.
Responsibilities:
• Deploy, support, or maintain of EHS programs and procedures to meet plant objectives and targets with an emphasis on Safety and
Accident Prevention, EHS Regulatory Compliance, and Resource Conservation.
• Performs a variety of routine assignments to provide experience and familiarization with the EHS tasks, methods, practices, and
programs of the company.
• Deploy, support, or maintain EHS reporting, which includes performance against targets and goals, regulatory reporting, and customer-
required reporting.
• Performs assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities that will include cross-functional experiences with
Lean, Quality, Supply Chain, and HR.
• Completes assignments individually or as part of a team and learns EHS management techniques.
• Attends internal training and meetings. Apply training in work assignments.
• Learn to apply methods, measurements, and techniques to contribute to reaching EHS-related goals and requirements.
• Travel between two of our plants in Otsego, MI, Lakeview, MI and Albion, IN less than 20 of the time.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Currently enrolled in, or completed a degree in a discipline related to EHS, which could include Environmental Sciences, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Health Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, or any STEM-related fields of study.
A candidate who is enrolled in their Junior or Senior year.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a variety of environments and assignments.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team member.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
- Ability to exert 25-80 pounds of force occasionally and/or exert 10-25 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
- Near acuity required for reading machine equipment, gauges, prints, and precision measuring instruments.
