Tasks
The key responsibilities and duties of the Manual Turner include, but are not limited to:
- To operate all types of lathes to fine limits
- To be able to work unsupervised/ minimal supervision
- To be able to read and understand technical drawings
- To take responsibility of work and others
- To observe and comply with company standards of conduct
- To be able to work on manual lathes working to fine tolerances
- An awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in the Company’s environmental procedures
- You will be required to maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book
- You may be required to train personnel with a specified area subject to your qualifications and experience
- All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with Safety and Environmental Regulations and Company Procedures
Requirements
The ideal Candidate should meet the following requirements:
- Educated at least at GCSE level or equivalent
- Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English
- Trained in machine shop technology and working practices
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience on manual lathes
- Experience in Manual and CNC Milling and Grinding desirable
- Team player with proven ability to manage, lead and guidance
- Excellent communications skills and able to work within a matrix environment
- Good organisational skills with strong planning and operational execution
- Excellent planning, problem solving organization and administration skills
- Able to turn vision into strategy and execute
- Decision maker, analysing for root causes rather than presenting the problem
- Self-motivated with flexible approach
- Around 37.5 hours per week
- Able to work shifts (06:30 – 14:30 and 13:55 – 21:55)
- The job requires the applicant to understand manual handling
